This last photo by Sergey Morozov shows a litter of puppies that were born in winter, and got to enjoy a St Petersburg spring day! Sergey loved the line of tails!

Sergey Morozov caught this one perfectly, the judge had just pointed to Olga and the Newfy for the win!

Sergey Morozov caught a moment that no handler can always control - much as they try. It's embarrassing, but all she can do is laugh and wait to clean it!

Photography is defined as the process of capturing light to create a durable image. For me, it’s about capturing a moment, evoking a memory, sharing a view of the world as seen through the photographer’s eye. When we think of dog shows, we think of achievements, show ribbons, teamwork, and camaraderie. But it is a great deal more, which is why I love Sergey Morozov’s photos so much. He captures the human interactions, the humor, the joys as well as the many frustrations. Keep that in mind as you view his photos!

This is a wonderful photo capture from Sergey Morozov - seeing a judge taking the time to help make showing the dog less stressful and more fun always makes me smile!

'This is a picture from the Euro Dog Show 2019 in Austria. I like the moment of laughing between judge and handler. It creates an atmosphere of trust and comfort.'

Sergey Morozov is another marvelous photographer, he took this view of Boston from his hotel window the year he attended his first BMDCA National Specialty!

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Another absolutely wonderful photo by Ruth Nielsen! She's made great use of backlighting and given us an excellent silhouette of a Berner, with just enough details to be satisfying!

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Ruth Nielsen has turned a hazy day to her advantage, I love this photo, and I'm quite sure I can't tell you why - I just do!

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Ruth Nielsen has captured the essence of Bernerdom here, just look at this regal pose as he surveys his kingdom! OK, so maybe not a farm dog, but still, a wonderful photo!

7/18/21

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Ruth Nielsen has captured the essence of Bernerhood here, I know they didn't originate in the Alps, but mountains, Berner, it evokes Switzerland to me!

7/17/21

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Ruth Nielsen has once again combined my favorite elements, flowers, scenery, and a mountain goat - I mean a Berner!

7/16/21

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

What's most fun about Ruth Nielsen's photos, besides the beautiful scenery, and besides the wonderful poses of her dogs, is that she documents adventures that she and her dogs have! She didn't share any of the performance event photos that she's taken, but she does a great job with those as well!

I love flowers, as everyone should know by now. Add a Berner, and some mountains in the background, and you have this wonderful photo by Ruth Nielsen!

I'll end displaying Anne Nichols' work with this magnificent photo, I could spend well over a month sharing the photos she sent for this. Who knows...!

'Portraits have always remained - a beautiful portrait is like nothing else and my attempt continued to be to capture the very soul.'

Anne Nichols combines form and function, I do love her double exposures!

'With digital photography, I could also do double exposures with endless possibilities on the computer as well - as with this Kelpie and a sheep.'

Anne Nichols does a beautiful job with her action shots, this also captures the heart of a Labrador Retriever - but the water droplets are just such fun!

'I have loved action from the beginning as well - when I switched to digital in 2008, a whole new world opened up to me. Action shots more attainable, although it certainly was more challenging with film cameras and one wasted a lot of film!'

Anne Nichols caught this cat at a perfect moment, it's fun to wonder what it was thinking about!

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Anne Nichols has a way with capturing the essence of animals in their surroundings, as this clearly demonstrates!

'With my move into digital, I started taking photos of horses and cats... in the same way as dogs: letting the animal just be an animal and capturing that special moment.'

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

If Anne Nichols has a signature style for Berners, this may be it - or it may just be because I've seen so many of them in Berner-Garde!

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Anne Nichols has skills with software to take her photos to another dimension. I don't think I've ever been so taken with an Old English Sheepdog!

'This demonstrates the push of the photo via the computer and the ability to bring a photo to a completely new level of artistic expression.'

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Anne Nichols makes me want to try to expand my own skills, but she has such an artist's eye for composition!

Digital photography has allowed her 'the fun of being able to capture action in a more consistent manner and also exploring 'movement' within the action shot with low shutter speeds.'

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Anne Nichols did a beautiful job with this double exposure, this isn't photoshop, but on film!

'From early on I liked to push things and the black and white, in camera, double exposure of my berner Kyla blended into the mountain is a very clear example of pushing things as well as the attempt to get what was in my head onto paper.'

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Anne Nichols made it extremely hard for me to select photos that show off her mad skills. This was taken during the days of film, and her well trained dogs did a perfect stay while she walked to the other side of the pond to take the photo!

'I am self-taught and simply went about it in the attempt of capturing the essence of the dog. I definitely did a lot of portrait type work and the picture of the 3 Berners with the reflection in the water demonstrates how I continually looked at the environment to bring out the most in a portrait. My great love of the outdoors and nature was many times combined with my great love of dogs and I looked to find ways to capture the soul in all.'

I'm going to keep her website displayed as well - Anne Nichols' website

A showcase of Berner people who happen to be fantastic photographers!

Gail Miller took this photo of her boy Loggins on the run: I keep one camera set up for my ‘running’ photos of Loggins. It's one of my older camera bodies, the Canon 7D, which has a decent motor drive and it shoots 8 frames per second (FPS). I keep a Canon 85mm prime lens on that camera and when I switch the camera to TV (time value) that means that the camera will shoot at a shutter speed that I have specified, and that is 1/6400 of a second, to stop 'the action'. I usually put my ISO on 640 and it has served me well. Photos usually range around f/4 - f/8. I live on 17 acres and about 6 acres are fenced at the house. When Loggins is across the pasture from me, I call him to ‘come’ and he runs to me. Photos are best mid to late afternoon, so the sun is behind me.
